Home business opportunities are a leading cause of internet fraud nationwide. Unfortunately these scamsters prey on the people that need not be scammed the most - the financially destitute. Desperation may cause one to cast aside the usual mental checks and balances involved in determining a product, service, or institution's legitimacy. Through careful marketing and hype, a lot of these scams are able to instill a true feeling of value through their rhetoric. One example of a home-based scam is envelope stuffing. For a nominal fee, which can vary from 20 to hundreds of dollars, one is invited to process envelopes from home. You're promised thousands of envelopes per month. What are you stuffing inside these envelopes? Fliers that are advertising a similar, if not the exact same awful scheme. This scheme has been around since the great depression and really shows no sign of going away. Unfortunately, it's migrated onto the internet. In place of conventional mail, is e-mail. You pay a fee to get started, and you're tasked with spamming out the exact same predatory hyped up marketing e-mail that entranced you. You're allegedly paid 25 dollars per e-mail, but think about it: What kind of company would pay someone more than a few cents to send out emails?
